Silicone lubricant for treadmill maintenance DS Treadmill Lube Pro 400mg
Detailed product description
Technical information. Product: OPN silicone spray lubricant, type S v5. Form: aerosol. Capacity: 400 ml. Manufactured to order in Germany by OPN-CHEMIE GmbH. For the substances contained in the product (pentane, cyclohexane, C6–C7 isoalkanes), DNEL (Derived No-Effect Level for humans) and PNEC (Predicted No-Effect Concentration for the environment) values have been established in accordance with the requirements of the REACH regulation. When general safety recommendations are followed, the product is considered safe for the user and the environment.
High-quality OPN silicone spray lubricant reduces friction and wear between the running belt and the treadmill deck. The lubricant distributes evenly across the working area, maintains a very low friction level, and reduces the buildup of static electricity during training. A specialized aerosol silicone lubricant designed for treadmills is easier, cleaner, and more convenient to use than liquid silicone. Its effect is immediate, and its performance remains stable despite temperature fluctuations. OPN silicone spray lubricant is colorless, odorless, hygienic, and environmentally safe.
Preventive maintenance of a treadmill is essential! The service life of any treadmill directly depends on how well it is maintained — with proper and regular care, a treadmill can last ten or even twenty years, while a completely unmaintained unit may fail within the first years of use. Failures resulting from improper or neglected maintenance usually do not appear immediately but become inevitable over time.
The lubrication process does not require much effort — it takes only about one minute and should be performed every 20–30 hours of treadmill use. With approximately 40 minutes of daily treadmill training, preventive maintenance is carried out about once per month. The provided video material shows instructions on how to perform the procedure. One 400 ml can of OPN silicone spray lubricant is sufficient for approximately 10 preventive lubrication applications. When the primary training style involves very fast sprint running (over 15 km/h) or when the user’s weight exceeds 100 kg, lubrication is recommended more frequently than usual — every 15–20 hours of treadmill use.
The main and most important part of treadmill maintenance — is the elimination of dry friction between the running belt and the treadmill deck, which is ensured through regular lubrication. Proper and timely lubrication is essential to ensure a long service life of the equipment and helps prevent costly repairs caused by lack of maintenance. Failures resulting from missing or improperly performed preventive maintenance are not considered manufacturing defects and are not covered by warranty or insurance.
Getting your new treadmill ready for use
1. A new treadmill purchased during the cold season (winter) should be kept in a warm room for at least several hours before unpacking and assembly, until it reaches room temperature. Only after that should the assembly of the treadmill be started. The assembly process itself is not complicated and for the most popular home-series treadmills takes about 15–20 minutes (during assembly, 8–16 bolts are tightened).
2. Connect the treadmill to the power supply and check its operation by pressing the “Start” button (the red magnetic safety key with a cord must be in its place — without it, the treadmill will not turn on). If the treadmill has an automatic incline function, additionally check that it operates correctly.
3. A small plastic bottle with special silicone fluid is always included with the treadmill, intended for the initial lubrication of the running surface between the moving running belt and the running deck. Before lubrication, the treadmill must be switched off so that the belt does not move. Then slightly lift the running belt from the right side in the middle, insert your hand approximately 10 cm closer to the center of the running area and pour out half of the bottle; repeat the same on the left side and pour out the remaining lubricant. After that, turn on the treadmill and let it run at a low speed without load for about 5 minutes so that the lubricant is evenly distributed over the entire belt, and wipe off any excess lubricant that flows out at the edges with a lint-free cloth or tissue.
(Some treadmill models have an automatic lubrication function. In this case, the lubrication process is simpler: pour half of the bottle into the designated reservoir immediately, and the remaining half after a few weeks.)
Your treadmill is ready for workouts. Enjoy your training and achieve your desired results quickly!
Regular preventive maintenance of the treadmill is essential!
Regular preventive maintenance of a treadmill is not a complicated process and does not require any special knowledge or tools — it can easily be performed by anyone, including seniors. The essence of preventive maintenance is to keep the device clean so that sand or other hard particles do not get between the moving running belt and the running deck, and to lubricate it regularly.
The lubrication process does not require much effort — it takes only about one minute and should be performed every 20–30 hours of treadmill use. With approximately 40 minutes of daily treadmill use, preventive maintenance is carried out about once a month. If the main training style is very fast, sprint running (over 15 km/h), or if the user’s weight exceeds 100 kg, we recommend performing lubrication more frequently than usual — every 15–20 hours of treadmill use.
For lubrication, we recommend using a specialized aerosol silicone lubricant spray, which is simpler, cleaner, and more convenient to use than liquid silicone. You can purchase it in our store at any time. You can watch a video instruction on how to do this above in the text. Under no circumstances use non-specialized products for treadmill preventive maintenance (automotive lubricants, WD-40, or other similar products), as they can damage the running belt and do not provide antistatic protection.
A properly maintained treadmill will operate quietly, smoothly, and serve you for a long time!
Treadmill belt tensioning and centering
This procedure is not required for a newly purchased treadmill, as the running belt is properly adjusted at the factory. For the high-quality modern treadmills we offer, with regular preventive maintenance (described above), running belt tensioning or centering is usually required only after 2–3 years of continuous use. Under standard conditions, the running belt should not be overtightened — it should be tensioned only enough to prevent slipping, while in the middle it should be possible to lift it by hand approximately 5–7 cm from the running deck.
If you notice that the running belt of a new treadmill is slightly shifted to one side and there is a gap of about 1 cm between the belt and one edge, this is normal. Such a gap is intentionally left at the factory to make preventive lubrication of the treadmill more convenient.
At this point, we deliberately do not provide detailed instructions for running belt tensioning and centering, as improper adjustment without sufficient experience may cause additional problems. If such a procedure nevertheless becomes necessary, we invite you to contact us — send us an email, and we will provide a comprehensive, detailed instruction on how to perform it correctly. Please note that all service consultations and services are provided exclusively to our customers who have purchased the equipment directly from our store.
Not performing preventive maintenance? Failures will appear soon!
Preventive maintenance of a treadmill is mandatory! The service life of any treadmill directly depends on the quality of maintenance — a properly maintained treadmill can last ten or even twenty years, while a completely unmaintained one may fail within the first years of use. Failures caused by improper or missing preventive maintenance do not appear immediately, but after a certain period of use they become inevitable.
Noisy operation, uneven movement of the running belt
Symptoms: the treadmill starts operating louder than usual, the running belt moves unevenly, and the movement speed may fluctuate.
Causes: insufficient or missing lubrication of the running belt, causing increased dry friction between the running belt and the running deck.
Running belt deformation (wavy belt)
Symptoms: the running belt deforms and becomes wavy, heats up during training, the sliding layer between the running belt and the running deck is lost, and the belt starts moving unevenly.
Causes: this malfunction occurs due to prolonged lack of lubrication, increased dry friction, and the use of non-specialized products not intended for treadmill maintenance. An additional cause may be the ingress of hard particles (sand, dust) between the running belt and the running deck.
Control panel (display) malfunctions
Symptoms: the control panel may stop working completely or partially — only some symbols may be displayed, some buttons may stop responding, or panel responsiveness may be impaired.
Causes: increased friction between the running belt and the running deck causes static electricity to accumulate, generated by friction between the synthetic running belt surface, the running deck, and footwear soles. Without proper lubrication, static electricity builds up more intensively, and touching the control buttons may cause an electrical discharge. Although such a discharge is not felt by the user and is not dangerous to humans, it can damage sensitive microelectronic components of the control console, resulting in partial or complete electronic failures.
The treadmill stops during training, error ERR02 appears on the display
Symptoms: during or shortly after training, the treadmill stops, the motor overheats, and error code ERR02 appears on the control panel.
Causes: an insufficiently lubricated running belt causes increased dry friction, significantly increasing the load on the motor and moving components, potentially exceeding the manufacturer’s specified maximum operating parameters several times over. As a result, the control system detects overload and activates protection. Error code ERR02 is most often not a fault — it is a protective signal. Once the cause is eliminated, the device operates normally and the error does not recur.
Humming or buzzing sounds during treadmill operation
Symptoms: a constant humming, buzzing, or grinding sound is heard during treadmill operation, most often coming from the rear part of the treadmill. This sound is particularly noticeable at moderate speeds (up to ~5 km/h), and may diminish or be masked by motor noise at higher speeds.
Causes: incorrectly adjusted running belt tension (over-tightening) causes increased load on the rear roller bearings and other moving components, leading to bearing wear and abnormal noises.
Solution: restoring correct running belt tension reduces bearing load and eliminates unwanted noises.
Failures resulting from missing or improperly performed preventive maintenance are not considered manufacturing defects and are not covered by warranty or insurance.
